Which size of Vespa scooter should I buy ?

Guide to scooter sizes:- 50cc, 125cc, 125cc +

Hopefully you've already decided that a Vespa scooter is the most stylish scooter in town so now you have to decide what size of scooter to buy.

This is actually a very important question to ask yourself as smaller engined scooters, although very economical, don't have a long mileage range and are restricted to 30 mph, ideal for city scooting but not great if you want something to get you on the motorway so please take a couple of minutes to read our practical guide to choosing which Vespa scooter is best for you.

Vespa scooter 50 cc

Minimum riding age is 16 years old. These size of scooters are also very economical delivering between 50 - 85 miles per gallon ! All 50 cc scooters are "restricted" which means their top speed is 30 mph. Due to the small size of engine then they are better suited for short distances i.e. round and about towns and cities. If you need something a bit faster and need to travel longer distances then the Vespa 125 cc is the one to look at.

Vespa scooter 125 cc

Minimum riding age is 17 years old. A 125cc Vespa scooter can travel upto 65 mph and offer a better range than a 50cc scooter. The 125 cc has a range of at least 15 miles and could be pushed to 25-30 miles if dirven carefully.

At this level you will need a full motorbike licence as this size of engine can really move !  The range of your bike shouldn't be an issue
